Dude, Where Have You Been?

So, my original intent was to post frequently to this blog. Honestly, life got in the way. Distractions were many. I got seduced by Medium and began writing there on a semi-regular basis. Most of my activity will likely remain over there, at least for now, because of the reach. I will still post here and as a bonus for following my blog, you will get to bypass the paywall and read all of my Medium content for free. I will post a monthly digest of my Medium posts here. Of course, I would love for you to join Medium since I get paid a few pennies when you read my posts there, but I don't mind giving you free stuff. So, with no further ado, this is the first installment of my monthly digest (I will have to come up with a better name). Stay tuned for more.

Invisible Black People What's up with white people pretending not to notice black friends and coworkers in public spaces? We literally become invisible to them.

Tales of the Uber/Lyft Driver: Relationship Troubles What happens when an Uber/Lyft ride goes really, really wrong?

I Charge My Friends for Professional Services Wherein I ramble on about why you should charge your friends, family, and coworkers for your professional services. No, I don't necessarily mean money, but there should be some compensation for your time, talent, and supplies. Don't work for free unless you're running a charity service.

Privacy Never Existed What we think of as a loss of privacy today isn't really the case. Privacy never existed. Privacy is simply the rate at which information can be transferred from where it is kept to where it is needed.

What's With the 1-Star Review? Just what are you really rating when you rate the service you received and how will that rating be used?

I Really Miss Google+ Google+ or G+ as most of us called it, was never a graveyard for me until Google killed it. It was a place where I could find lively discussions on just about any topic and make friends with people from around the globe based on shared interests rather than knowing people in common.

When We Were Latchkey Kids Once upon a time kids and teens could walk home from school, play outside, or even stay home by themselves.

DoorDash, UberEats, and All the Rest These gig-economy food delivery services are not built on a sustainable business model. They're just burning through venture capital and not paying workers what they deserve. The average DoorDash delivery driver makes $1.45 an hour after expenses not including tips.

Star Trek Fandom and Me When you cut me, I bleed Starfleet.
